Japan’s Cute & Fun Side (*'ω'*)

Japan’s pop culture is worldwide known and has conquered every corner of the globe. Japan is an otaku haven where any Manga & Anime fan, card & board game lovers or genuinely curious student won’t miss out. We are aware that there are too many sub-cultures and otaku genres in Japan, therefore we arranged a selection of different events and workshops for you to indulge in. Please note, this module is not entirely themed for Anime & Manga topics only. The module aims to cover a variety of genres by encouraging students to engage in fun activities. Pop Culture FAQ

Can I choose my activities?

Unfortunately not. The activities are scheduled on a monthly basis and cannot be changed.

Can I change the dates and times they take place?

Due to class schedules and limited availability spots for some activities, the dates and times are fixed in advance.

How many activities will I have per week?

You will have between 2-3 activities per week. These activities can all take place during one session and will accumulate for an equivalent amount of 6 regular lessons.

Can you let me know what activities will take place during my study period?

Yes, but due to numbers of participants and seasonal events, the schedule can only be confirmed about 1 month before your classes take place. Therefore it is impossible to let you know in advance what activities will take place during your stay.

I am only interested in Manga & Animes. Do you think I will have fun?

When it comes to Pop Culture, we are trying to do our best in giving a broad picture of all the fun events Japan has to offer. Anime & Manga is one of them, but it is not covered during every Pop Culture week. Therefore, if you only want to do these types of activities, you might not be satisfied with this module.

Are transportation and meals included in the price?

Transportation yes but not meals, except for cooking workshops.

Can I take this module for more than 2 weeks at one location?

As mentioned above, activity schedules are fixed per month, hence it is not possible. However, activities differ per school location, which means you can take this module again when going to another Meiji campus.

My friend is coming to visit me in Japan and would like to join the activities. Is that possible?

Under normal circumstances, only fully enrolled Meiji students are allowed to participate in Meiji Academy's cultural activities. However, we have a special clause, where we allow Meiji students to bring their friends if a spot is available. Your friend would still have to pay the regular module fee as everybody else.
