Sharehouse FAQs

Do I need a guarantor for my apartment?

No, a guarantor is not required when booking through our accommodation partners, making the process much easier for international students.

What amenities are included in private apartments?

Private apartments are equipped with essential items, though specifics may vary. Typically, they include a furnished kitchen, cooking utensils, study desk, reading lamp, TV, Wi-Fi, washing machine, and hairdryer. Bedding is provided, but you’ll need to bring your own towels and toiletries.

Do all apartments have internet?

Yes, they do. Most apartments have Wi-Fi with some only offering wired connections, and in such cases, you might need to bring a LAN cable. In addition, we can also provide cheap portable “pocket Wi-Fi” to rent.

Is the security deposit fully refundable?

Yes, the deposit will be returned after check-out if there are no damages or outstanding bills.

Are the apartments suitable for two people?

No, our affordably priced apartments are studio-type (16-20 square meters) and designed for single occupancy. For two people, we recommend booking an Airbnb or considering other accommodation options.

How thick/soundproof are the walls?

All our private apartments, with a few exceptions, are located in concrete buildings that have better soundproofing than common Japanese wooden studio buildings (also known as Apaato). Nevertheless, please be aware that by Western housing standards, Japanese walls tend to be significantly thinner.

Is cleaning service provided?

No, tenants are responsible for cleaning their apartments.
